News: Deadly, wrong-way motorcycle wreck reported in Burlington

BURLINGTON, WA – According to KIRO 7, a motorcyclist died in a wrong-way collision at I-5 SB and George Harper Rd on Thursday.

A trooper attempted to pull over a motorcyclist heading south on I-5 when the motorcyclist sped off. The trooper ended the pursuit.

A short while later, the trooper saw the motorcyclist heading north in the southbound lanes I-5. The trooper ended the chase when the driver encountered oncoming traffic.

The motorcyclist collided with a part of the Skagit River bridge and was ejected off their bike before being hit by an oncoming semi-truck.

First responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Officials have not released their name.

The Skagit County Multiple Agency Response Team is investigating the incident.
